Garage Remodel - Adding Important Functions (and Value)
One of the reasons we were attracted to this house is that the lower level runs the full length of the property and could be finished out to add a lot of usable square footage! With all of our family living overseas and visiting frequently, an additional bedroom with a bathroom and kitchen would be a huge win! It would also make our rear yard, which is on a lower level then our kitchen, living and dining room - easier to make use of.
I don’t think the lower level is ever going to have the same grand feel as the rest of the house, so I’m proposing that we don’t try and instead allow these new spaces to have their own special aesthetic. Some of the interiors that I looked to for inspiration include Le Corbusier’s Le Cabanon built in 1952, and this more recent London remodel by Jonathan Tuckey Design.
Very excited to one day move forward with this project! More on the future rear yard development coming soon.
